Students from the Civil Engineering Department participated in the Open Day event hosted by CSIR-SERC, Chennai, a premier research institution known for its cutting-edge work in structural engineering and related fields. The visit provided a valuable opportunity for students to witness advanced research facilities, interact with experts, and gain practical exposure to the latest innovations in civil and structural engineering.

The students were warmly welcomed by the CSIR-SERC team and briefed about the center’s research focus and ongoing projects. Live Demonstrations: Earthquake Simulation: Observation of seismic testing on scaled models to study building resilience.

Informative presentations were delivered on the latest developments in sustainable materials, disaster-resistant construction techniques, and the role of digital twins in structural engineering. An exhibition showcased innovative technologies and prototypes developed at CSIR-SERC, sparking inspiration and curiosity among the students. The Open Day at CSIR-SERC was an enriching experience for the civil engineering students. It bridged the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical applications, inspiring them to contribute to cutting-edge advancements in civil engineering.
