Navodaya Institute of Technology (NIT-R) was established in 2008 by Navodaya Education Trust (NET), the biggest premier private institution in the education in Raichur, Karnataka, India. NET aims at developing Navodaya Institute of Technology (NIT-R) as the most respected and sought-after technical institution of higher learning in Karnataka. 

The institute started with four B. E. courses Computer Science Engineering (CSE), Electrical & Electronics Engineering (EEE), Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE) and Information & Science Engineering (ISE). In the year 2011 new branches of engineering courses i.e Civil Engineering (CE) and Mechanical Engineering (ME) were approved with an intake of 60 each. Subsequently, in the year 2014 two PG programmes M. Tech – Thermal Power Engineering and M. Tech. – Digital Communication & Networking were introduced. All these courses are approved by AICTE, New Delhi and Affiliated to VTU, Belgavi , Karnataka 

The institute is located in Raichur, North Karnataka region well connected by road and railway and the nearest International Airport in Hyderabad. The institute is surrounded by green environment and hilly area free from pollution.  The institute is now in its twelveth  year of dedicated service to the people of Karnataka and other states in the field of technical education.

The institute strives to improve the socio-economic status of the economically weak and backward sections by providing opportunities of graduate and post-graduate education in technical education, at affordable cost. Navodaya Institute of Technology stands out from the other institutes in the North Karnataka region, when it comes to having the best physical and intellectual infrastructure. NIT is committed to provide value-based technical education by continually improving the services to produce qualified and competent technocrats.
